What we collect
Visit statistics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google your IP address, browser details and the pages you view. We’ve turned off Google signals and ad personalization for this site. Google’s own use of this data is described at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which loads a small script from Cloudflare to count page views and page load times. It does not set cookies.
Server and security logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes request details such as IP address, user agent and the URL requested, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We also look at aggregate counts of requests to the API and the Markdown and JSON files, including which AI crawlers fetch them.
Emails you send us. If you email corrections@, hello@ or privacy@, we receive your address and message. Emails are forwarded to a mailbox we run.
We don’t have accounts, a newsletter, comments or ads, and we don’t sell personal data.
Why
To run the site, keep it secure, see which pages are useful, and answer messages and corrections.
How long we keep it
- Google Analytics data: kept for Google Analytics’ standard retention period for this property (14 months), then deleted.
- Emails: up to two years after the conversation ends, unless we need them longer for a legal reason.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or use Google’s opt-out add-on.
- Your browser’s Do Not Track setting doesn’t change what this site does; use the options above instead.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at [email protected].
