The SEC and IAPD publish Form ADV data as downloadable files: .csv Form ADV Part 1 files (the sec.gov FOIA page says before 2025; the adviserinfo.sec.gov page says from January 2001 through the most recent quarter), zip files of Investment Adviser Information Reports on sec.gov, and XML compilation feeds on adviserinfo.sec.gov for SEC-registered, exempt reporting and state advisers. No key is needed; the IAPD manifest lists feeds dated October 16, 2026.

The adviserinfo.sec.gov Form ADV Data page says: "Historical ADV Part 1 filing data for SEC registered investment advisers from January 2001 through the most recent quarter and for SEC exempt reporting advisers from December 2011 through the most recent quarter, is available in .csv format, below." It then links to "View ADV data files from before 2025 on www.sec.gov." We do not resolve the difference: read both pages before relying on a date range. A third SEC page, Information About Registered Investment Advisers and Exempt Reporting Advisers (https://www.sec.gov/data-research/sec-markets-data/information-about-registered-investment-advisers-exempt-reporting-advisers; capture evidence/sec-form-adv/sec-ia-page-text.txt), says: "The Investment Adviser Information Reports are made available as zip files that contain a spreadsheet file when unzipped." Its text refers to this month's and last month's reports, so these appear to be recurring files. Compilation (XML) feeds are at https://adviserinfo.sec.gov/compilation.

What the docs don't say

The IAPD data page says datasets should not be read as an adviser's registration status; advisers awaiting SEC approval may appear in the datasets but not in IAPD search.
The compilation feed for individual adviser representatives (169 MB) is listed alongside the firm feeds; this record covers firm-level use only.
The FOIA, IAPD Form ADV Data, IAPD compilation and EDGAR access pages read state no license or reuse terms. Warranty wording is on some pages only: the IAPD compilation page says "we cannot guarantee its accuracy" (capture evidence/sec-form-adv-data/adviserinfo-sec-gov-compilation.txt), the SEC's Information About Registered Investment Advisers page says "we can not guarantee its accuracy" (capture evidence/sec-form-adv/sec-ia-page-text.txt), and the EDGAR access page says of its own files that it does "not guarantee accuracy or scope". The FOIA page and the IAPD Form ADV Data page carry no such text.
The SEC says it has no data for state-registered advisers on the FOIA page; the IAPD compilation page lists a separate state investment adviser report.
